Where can I get Immigration Chest X-ray in Rotorua Lakes?
An immigration chest X-ray is a chest X-ray required for certain Visa and immigration applications.
It is primarily used to screen for tuberculosis (TB) and confirm that applicants meet immigration health requirements and regulations.
Most examinations appointments take 15 to 30 minutes, while the X-ray itself is completed in seconds.
This is a walk-in service and you do not need to make an appointment.
What documentation do I need to bring to my appointment?
- A valid passport (required for identification)
- Your eMedical reference number (NZER), if provided
- Any immigration medical paperwork or referral information from your panel physician

When you arrive
On arrival, you may be asked to complete a questionnaire or consent form. A member of our team will explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
Depending on the area being examined, you may be asked to change into a gown and remove items such as jewellery, watches, hearing aids or other metal objects that could affect the quality of the images.
During your X-ray
During your X-ray
Your examination will be performed by a qualified Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) or Radiographer.
The technologist will position you carefully and explain each step of the examination. Depending on the body part being imaged, you may be asked to stand, sit or lie down. Several images may be taken from different angles.
It is important to remain as still as possible while the images are being captured. The X-ray itself usually takes only a few seconds, although your appointment will typically take 15 to 30 minutes from start to finish.
After your X-ray

If you changed into a gown, you will be able to change back into your clothes immediately after the examination.
Your X-ray images will be reviewed by a Radiologist, who will prepare a report for your referring healthcare provider.
Your doctor, specialist or other referrer will discuss the results with you and explain any recommended next steps.
