Dr Snehal Patel completed her medical degree in Zimbabwe and then moved to the UK for complete her basic surgical training. She completed her 5-year radiology training in Cardiff including a 1-year fellowship in cardiac imaging at Bristol Royal Infirmary. She graduated as a radiologist in 2012 in the UK and moved to Canada for a 1-year fellowship in interventional radiology from the University of McGill in Montreal. She worked as a consultant interventional radiologist at Royal London Hospital, UK from 2013 -2020 before moving to New Zealand in 2020 with her family. Snehal works as a consultant radiologist at Auckland City Hospital and North Shore Hospital.
She has a special interest in oncological intervention and currently provides a full range of procedures from transarterial chemoembolisation, ablation (radiofrequency, microwave, and cryoablation), portal vein embolization, venous access (including Port-a-Cath, biliary and renal interventions, gastrostomy insertion and varicocele embolization. She is also passionate about women’s health and currently offers uterine artery embolization for fibroids, treatment of pelvic venous congestion, hysterosalpingography.
Outside of work Snehal is a wife, happily married to a cardiothoracic surgeon and is a mother of two beautiful boys. She enjoys cooking and baking and loves spending time outdoors with her family.
